The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario is a pediatric health and research center providing outstanding family-centered patient care, pioneering breakthrough research, and training the health care professionals of tomorrow.

Over the past 40 years, CHEO has established itself as a world-class centre providing leading-edge treatment and compassionate care for children and youth aged 0 to their 18th birthday.

In 2003, inspired by the spirit and compassion of Roger Neilson, a much-respected member of their coaching staff, the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and its Foundation approached CHEO with an exciting vision to improve the quality of life for children and families going through the most difficult times imaginable. 

The two organizations entered into a unique partnership in which the hospital’s palliative care team designed and developed new programs and a beautiful new facility was built to welcome children and families. Thus Roger Neilson House was born– an eight-bed pediatric residential hospice which offers compassionate care in collaboration with CHEO’s palliative care team. This amazing facility is located on the grounds at CHEO and provides a home-like environment to children who have a significant risk of dying before reaching adulthood.

50% of all funds raised will go to Rogers House while the other 50% will go to CHEO's program called 'Plan-It Safe' which helps with the prevention of childhood injuries. 

'Plan-it Safe' is run by a team who are dedicated to eliminating preventable childhood injuries in our city. Their mission is to increase local capacity, strengthen public policy, ensure effective programming and advocate for the creation of safe environments to reduce the toll injuries take on children and youth in Eastern Ontario. The Centre works in collaboration with many of the community partners who deliver injury prevention programming. Its core competencies are injury surveillance, research and program evaluation, consultation on program planning, implementation and evaluation, advocacy and professional and public education.
